Students who enjoyed the original book will like re-reading it with the new illustrations new readers who enjoy reading books about how to be an upstander will hopefully find this book, as well. Must buy!Īnything you did not like about the book? Nope. This beautiful classic about the importance of being an upstander and showing empathy to fellow humans has been beautifully illustrated for the 10th anniversary edition. Includes a foreword by Dina Zuckerberg, director of family programs at MyFace, an organization dedicated helping children with craniofacial differences and a new book club discussion guide. The illustration truly brings the metaphor to life! My favorite illustration is at the start of Via’s chapter (Via is the main character Auggie’s sister) and shows the galaxy of their family with Auggie as the sun. Cartoon images in blue, black, and white are spaced throughout the book as full-page illustrations. Every section of the book begins with an all-blue page with a quote from a novel, play, or song. The new images begin with the cover, which has the original art on the hardback peeking through the astronaut helmet on the jacket with stars, the moon, and planets around it. What did you like about the book?
